Awesome Chocolate Cake

“It is a family favorite, I got years ago from my aunt. Everyone requests it for birthdays. She always used just regular hot coffee, however I love the Door County Vanilla Cappuccino. I have also used the Irish Crème.”

Ingredients
Featured ingredient: Vanilla Cappuccino Coffee 10 oz. Bag Ground
CAKE

- 2 C. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 C. baking cocoa
- 2 C. sugar
- 1 C. vegetable oil
- 1 C. hot brewed Door County Coffee Vanilla Cappuccino flavored coffee
- 1 C. milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla
FROSTING

- 1 C. milk
- 5 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 C. butter
- 1/2 C. solid Crisco
- 1 C. regular sugar
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla
- Chocolate Shavings Sprinkled on top (Optional)
Instructions
- Sift all dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
- Add oil, hot brewed Vanilla Cappucino Coffee, 1 cup milk and mix on medium speed 2 minutes.
- Add eggs and vanilla, mix additional 2 minutes. (Batter will be thin.)
- Pour into two 8 or 9 inch greased and floured baking pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
- Cool in pans 15 min. then remove onto rack and cool completely before frosting.
- For frosting, combine milk and flour in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until very thick, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat, cover and refrigerate until completely chilled.
- Beat butter and Crisco; add sugar and vanilla until creamy; then add chilled milk and flour mixture. Beat on high in mixer for 10 minutes.
- Frost cooled cake.
- Sprinkle with chocolate shavings (optional)
