A Spooktacular Halloween Shindig

Oct 25th 2018

Ghosts and ghouls, witches and warlocks, Pumpkin Spice enthusiasts and anyone in between; the Spookiest of seasons is upon us once again and it’s time to celebrate! What better way than by putting on your best costume, and indulging in all things spooky? We have put together a list of scary-easy ways to throw the best shindig this side of Elm Street.

The easiest place to start is with a great costume. Here at the Door County Coffee Café, we like to split up into our groups by department. From Scrabble Tiles to pirates, or even dressing up like our very own flavored coffees, group costumes are always a fun alternative to the same old witch costume that makes its only appearance every October 31st.

Once you have your costume complete, its on to food. Everyday snacks are always tasty, but why not take the everyday, ordinary, and rev it up? Making a batch of pigs in a blanket? Why not make them “Mummies under wraps” instead? Or instead of plain old hot chocolate after a long night of Trick or Treating, try a Pumpkin Spice Swiss Cafe made with our Pumpkin Spice flavored coffee and hot cocoa! How about a Cheese Dip, that only uses our easy mix plus some sour cream? You can even kick it up a notch by skipping the Tostitos, and cutting Halloween shapes out of tortillas and crisping them up in the oven for spooky shaped chips. Any kind of cake, cookie or cupcake can be dressed in its Halloween best by changing up the color of sprinkles or frosting to orange, black, green, purple…you get the idea!

To tie it all together, give your house a spooky vibe. Going all out in the decoration department does not have to eat up the party budget. The local discount store can be your best friend! As long as you have a hot glue gun and some creative juices, you can decorate every room in the house for next to nothing! From garland, to lights, creepy candles and spooky signs, you can find anything to make your home just a little more haunted. Try their silk flowers, dip them in some black paint, glue a few spiders onto one of their glass vases, and you have a spooky centerpiece! Paint some eyes and a mouth on a white jar candle, and it’s a ghost! You can even get all kinds of serving trays and bowls, that will last for next year’s party! A great party does not have to break the bank!

A haunted house, a great group costume and some killer food make for one ghoulish night. Happy Haunting everyone!
