Winter Fun in Door County
With Winter upon us, we are in for a few months of colder temperatures, beautiful snowfalls, and lots of good coffee! People often think Door County does not have much to offer in winter – but that is not the case at all, we have beautiful sights to see and there is lots of fun to be had! From shopping, to hiking, there is something for everyone to do! Check out some of our favorite outdoor activities to do in Door County this winter!
1: Take a Winter hike – From Peninsula State Park, to Whitefish Dunes or The Ridges Sanctuary, there are many beautiful areas to hike all over the peninsula! There are options for regular hiking, and some places even offer snowshoeing trails! Take in all the beautiful sights and sounds of the county, blanketed by the peacefulness of winter snow. Just make sure your mug is full of your favorite coffee to keep you nice and warm!
2: Catch a Winter Sunrise – While it may be cold, the most beautiful sunrises come in winter, on Lake Michigan. Well worth the extra mittens or scarf, heading out to Cave Point, with a mug of Frosted Cinnamon Buns in hand, will provide you with some of the most beautiful colors you have ever seen!
3: Shop Local – There are many shops, Door County Coffee included, that are open year-round! You will find so many great things to take home that will remind you of your Door County Trip for the rest of the year!
4: Visit Your Favorite Local Café – Make sure you stop to see us at the Door County Coffee Café in Carlsville! We have an amazing menu available for breakfast and lunch, or you can grab a cup of coffee and something sweet from our homemade bakery items! Nothing goes better together than coffee and a fresh scone on a cold Winter morning!
4: Sledding & Ice Skating – You can find ice rinks and sledding hills dotted all along the county! Take the family out for a day of outdoor fun and enjoy! Perfect for all ages, a long day of skating or sledding is the perfect way to spend a beautiful Saturday in Door County this winter!
6: Ice Fishing – From the Bay of Green Bay, to the many lakes across the county, there is some major fun to be had while ice fishing! Another great activity for the whole family, Door County has so many kinds of fish for you to catch, and it makes for a fun meal when you get home! A long day out on the ice, with your favorite Door County Coffee to keep you warm…what could be better!
7: Attend A Winter Festival – While we are known for our Summer and Fall’s full of festivals, we have some great ones that come around in January and February too! One of our favorites, the Fire & Ice Festival is an incredible winter themed weekend full of a ice sculpting, or you can head to Fish Creek to enjoy Winterfest!
Even though the weather is cold, we have hot, delicious coffee and beautiful snow covered miles of shoreline for you to explore all winter long!
